To develop machines faster, we typically use a common core of design elements like linear and rotary axis. With modern CAD, we can make these into parametric models that you can download and match to your particular design constraints: material thicknesses, desired lengths / widths, etc. Perfect modularity is a wild goose, so we often customize these designs for their specific application use, but they serve as a good point of departure.
