5 AXIS TRUNNION
This five-axis trunnion adds an additional two rotational axes to the Multifab's 3 axis gantry. In the present embodiment, the "A" axis rotates +/- 100 degrees and the "C" axis can rotate continuously. A block of material to be machined is mounted to the platter of the C axis. This positioning attachment is useful for surface milling, where it makes it easier to maintain an optimal angle between the cutting tool and the part. The trunnion also enables 5-sided machining in a single set-up.
